Art Group show talent in An Tearmann

artgroup1

The Kilcullen Art Group has set up an exhibition of members' paintings in the upstairs gallery of An Tearmann, writes Brian Byrne.

The 21 paintings are a representative sample of the work of the Group, which is celebrating its 10th year in existence.

The exhibition is at the invitation of Bridge Camphill, and the Group is donating part of the proceeds of any sales to the local Camphill community. It will run until the end of September.

Group members have previously exhibited in Fallons, Kilcullen Community Library, the Dunlavin Arts Weekend, the People's Art exhibitions in St Stephen's Green Dublin, and at the Shortt family's annual Garden Open Day.

There are 14 members currently active in the Kilcullen Art Group.

Art Group on the green

Kilcullen Art Group will be exhibiting again at St Stephen's Green in Dublin this weekend.

A recent first outing at the venue was very successful, and a great experience for the group in getting feedback for their work from total strangers.

If you're in town, stop by and say hello.

Art in the Library

For those interested in our local artists, there's now an ongoing opportunity to see their work beyond the annual exhibition put on in Fallons, writes Brian Byrne.

Thanks to an initiative by our librarion Julie O'Donoghue, a rolling exhibition of Kilculle Art Group members' work will run through the year.

"It makes a lovely addition to the library, so hopefully should add to Art involvement in Kilcullen," says Art Group leader Sabina Reddy. "At the moment we just have a mix of different people's pieces and in a while we will start to put up a series of theme pieces."

Anyone interested in getting involved in the Group can contact Sabina at 087 6807139. They meet Tuesday nights.

Kilcullen group art exhibition in Fallons

There was an excellent turnout last evening for the opening of the third annual Kilcullen Art Group Exhibition, in Fallons Function Room.

Group leader Sabina Reddy says that despite the recession, a number of pieces were sold—the first time this has happened on opening night.
