About A Kilcullen Diary
A Kilcullen Diary was established in January 2005 to provide a daily website news service for and about Kilcullen.
The founder, publisher and editor is Brian Byrne, whose family has been in business in the 'village grown bigger' for four generations. Since 1977 he has worked as a journalist at local, regional and national levels, reporting, photographing and broadcasting.
Today, in local terms he is responsible for the 'Down and Around in Kilcullen' section of the Kildare Nationalist, and is a motoring and travel journalist. He is the co-publisher, with colleague Trish Whelan, of Irish Car+Travel magazine and its associated website carandtravel.ie, and of Irish Van & Truck magazine. He is also the motoring correspondent of the Carlow/Kildare/Laois editions of the Nationalist, the Southern Star, the Western People, the Meath Live website, and Decision magazine, and is a longtime member of the Irish Motoring Writers Association.
His fiction works include the collection of short stories, Mariseo's House & Other Stories (1993) and the novel The Mariseo Legacy (1996), under the pseudonym William Trapman; and The Spirits We Know in his own name, currently available as an ebook on Amazon.
The Diary's pages are open to contributions from anyone in the community, though the editor reserves the right to amend or refuse to publish any contribution without necessarily providing a reason.
