Special art exhibition for Brigid festival
An exhibition by the SULT Artists group in Kildare in February will celebrate Brigid of Kildare, writes Brian Byrne.
The group, which has just completed a 6-month residency in a pop-up exhibition in Bolands of Kildare, has created beautiful visual interpretations of the county's patron saint and of the mythological goddess Brigdiu.
The works will be displayed during Féile Bhríde 2022, with the support of the Brigidine Sisters. The exhibition venue will be Solas Bhríde Centre and Hermitage and it opens on 1 February.
Féile Bhríde 2022 'Brigid: Flame of Justice and Peace' will include walks, meditations, the lighting of the Hill of Allen, and more.
SULT artists was founded in March 2020, in response to the closure of traditional Galleries and storefront outlets. The group launched their first exhibition in Grá Gallery, Naas in December 2020.
Planning has begun in preparation for a worldwide celebration in 2024, that will mark the 1,500-year anniversary of St Brigid's death.
