'Missed Call' scam ringing in again
Just be aware that the old missed call scam is doing the rounds again, writes Brian Byrne.
This one was a short time ago. Luckily I was beside the phone when it happened and I spotted that it just rang for a second before shutting off.
Numbers like this with a Switzerland prefix +41, usually followed by a '7' have been doing the rounds since at least 2013.
If you get one, don't call back. You'll be charged premium rates that go almost entirely to the scammer.
As a matter of policy, don't call back any missed call to a number you don't know. If it's genuine and they need you, they'll call again.
Also, other country numbers are used too, not just Switzerland.
