The passing of Joe McElroy
The Diary has learned with deep personal sadness of the death of Joseph Patrick McElroy, whom we all knew as Joe, of The Grove, Liffey Hall, Newbridge, and formerly of Ballyfair, The Curragh.
Joe passed away peacefully, on 28 November 2019 at Naas Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He is sadly missed by his loving wife Maggy, children Amy, Ben and Grace, sons-in-law Dermot and Matt, grandchildren Elsa, Alannah, Edith, Toby, Heidi and Mercer, brothers Seán and Gerard, sisters Ann and Vera, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends. Predeceased by his brother Con.
Joe always had a great affinity with Kilcullen, and was a stalwart of the Old Kilcullen Rugby Club. He and Maggy were regular Saturday morning visitors to the town to meet up with local friends.
Joe will be reposing at his residence on Monday, 2 December from 4pm until 8pm with prayers at 7. Removal on Tuesday morning at 11.30 to arrive at St Brigid's Cathedral, Kildare Town for 12 o'clock Service. His funeral afterwards will be to St Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge.
