The passing of Molly Mayne

The Diary has learned of the death of Molly Mayne, nee Dowling, of Warwickshire in England and formerly from Nicholastown.

Molly was the loving wife of Bob Mayne, and sister to the late Billy Dowling Snr of Nicholastown, and also to Peggy, Christy and Bridie, all deceased.

She is sadly missed by her husband Bob, their daughter Catherine and their son Martin, and her extended family and friends. May she rest in peace.

Prior to her marriage and moving to England, Molly worked with Bridie at the De Burgh home in Oldtown, Naas. Her husband Bob Mayne is brother of the late Dymphna Mayne, who worked in Byrne's Drapery in Kilcullen. Bridie subsequently married Jimmy Curran, a projectionist at the Odeon Cinema in Naas, and eventually they moved to County Dublin. Christy was in the Irish army and afterwards was employed by the Board of Works on the Curragh. Billy worked for all his life with the Byrne family, formerly of The Hideout in Kilcullen. Peggy died in her late teens. Their father Bill worked for the Aga Khan at Sheshoon Stud.
