Lions, CU and local businesses put their money on the mats

Kilcullen Lions presented Kilcullen Bowls Club with a cheque for €500 last night, to help with the purchase of new mats, writes Brian Byrne.

The presentation was made by Lions Daragh Fitzgerald and Conor Williams at the last match night of the season.

The Club, which has been in existence for some 18 years, started out in the Town Hall, and then for many years played on Friday nights in the John F Kennedy Hall. Its home for some time now has been in Kilcullen GAA's Clubhouse.

If more than a few faces are familiar from the St Bridget's Pitch & Putt Club, that's no coincidence ... Bowls is a winter activity, finishing the season last night, while P&P is a summer one.

In addition to the Lions contribution, funds were also provided by Kildare Credit Union Kilcullen, Berneys Chemists, and Firestop. The club also did a Bag Pack to raise money, and also contributed to the mats purchase with club funds.
