Sponsor sought for 2019 Sarah Swaine Memorial Run

The organisers of the Sarah Swaine Memorial Run, which was inaugurated in January of this year, are now looking for a medals sponsor for next year's event, writes Brian Byrne.

The Run raised more than €5,300 for the CanTeen charity which supports teenagers with cancer. Young Kilcullen girl Sarah was helped by Canteen while fighting the disease to which she eventually succumbed. The Run takes place on the anniversary of her death, 7 January.

Donations from a variety of groups, businesses and individuals paid for the cost of the medals for the event, which meant that all the money raised by the Run could be given to the charity. There were also many spot prizes and other support provided by a wide variety of businesses in counties Kildare and Carlow.

"Because of the success of the inaugural Run, we're going to need sponsorship for 600 medals for the next one," says Carrie Swayne, an aunt of Sarah's and part of the organising committee for the event. Nearly 370 people registered for the 2018 Run.

Ideally, she says a single company would be suitable for the medals sponsorship, as they would have their name and logo on the medals ribbons.

Anyone interested in discussing the idea can contact Carrie on 086 0743259.
