Meditation Trail opening in Kilcullen next week

The opening of a 'Meditation Trail' at the Bridge Community next week will be the Kilcullen involvement in an adult learning festival running from 5-9 March, writes Brian Byrne.

The festival will also include a Relax & Refresh Morning in Athy, a Chat & Chill Morning in Newbridge,and a Sensory Garden in Kildare town.

It's all part of the national AONTAS Adult Learner Festival supported by KWETB, Community Education Service – Kildare. The theme chosen by the Community Education Service for this year is 'Health & Wellbeing'.

Participating groups include Newbridge Family Resource Centre; Newbridge Women's Group; Eve Harvest, Kildare Town; Camphill, Kilcullen and Home School Community Liaison, Athy.

The week will start with a performance by the Stargazer Choir of a song they have written themselves about homelessness in Ireland. This will be at Newbridge Family Resource Centre on Monday 5 March from 10am to 12 noon.

On Tuesday 6 March, the Mindful Mammies Circle, Athy, will host a Relax & Refresh Morning from 9.30-11am in the Jarevill Suite, Church of Ireland Hall, Carlow Road, Athy. A little later, on Tuesday morning in Kildare Town the Gather & Grow Group, Eve Harvest officially launch their sensory garden from 11am to 1pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring plants to swap and there will be an opportunity to collect cuttings from established plants.

The Newbridge Women's Group has committed itself to sharing their learning about mindfulness with the wider community in a series of Chat & Chill Mornings starting on Wednesday 7 March from 11 amto 1pm at the Riverbank Arts Centre, Main Street, Newbridge. The event will be repeated on Thursday 15 March (at the same venue) and again on Friday 9 March, this time at the Newbridge Parish Centre, Station Road, Newbridge.

The opening of the Meditation Trail at the Bridge Community is on Thursday 8 March. Come prepared by wearing warm clothes, outdoor footwear and rain jacket. A welcoming party will be on hand and indoor display will also chart the development of the project.
