'Alice' for production in March

The Drama Dynamics 'Act/Dance/Perform' Group are in heavy rehearsal for their production of 'Alice', which will be staged in the Moat Theatre, Naas, in March, writes Brian Byrne.

The show will be performed on Friday/Saturday 23/24 March, starting at 8pm each night.

The script by Laura Wade is about imaginative Alice with a family life that's far from perfect, and has been adapted by Evelyn O'Sullivan and Anne O'Connell to incorporate original dance numbers.

Evelyn is the director of Drama Dynamics, and Anne is a teacher at Cross & Passion College. They envisaged the project for young people aged 13-17, following the success of the CPC production of 'The 39 Steps' last year.

Laura wade is a Bedfordshire-based playwright and her premiere of 'Alice' was at the Sheffield Crucible in 2010. It is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland', with the 21st century version of the main character being helped to deal with teenage bereavement by the familiar storybook characters from the original, including the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat.

Tickets available at €12.50 each or a family of two adults and two children for €40.
