Rest of January looks busy in Kilcullen
While it might be expected that things wind down somewhat in the post-Christmas, there are still a lot of events going on for the remainder of January in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
A one night only presentation of Martina Reilly's 'A Tale of the Expected' will take place in the Town Hall Theatre on 6 January. The play can be booked online at Eventbrite, or by calling 087 2830587.
The inaugural Sarah Swaine Memorial Run will be on Sunday 7 January, with registration from 11am at the Parish Centre and presentation of spot prizes, and a cheque to the CanTeen charity, during a music evening in The Hideout from 5pm-8pm.
Dance classes will resume in Kilcullen Community Centre on Tuesday 9 January for ages 4-16 years, from 6.15pm-7.15pm. The genres include competitive lyrical, freestyle, slowdance and hip hop.
Simone Schuemmelfeder of 'Storygate' will entertain with stories at the resumed ‘Triple Spiral Storytellers' sessions, with a meeting in An Tearmann on Wednesday 10 January.
The Maintain Hope Concert on 17 January will be an eclectic mix of music, song, story and dance, on a Stephen Foster theme with the Camptown Singers, a choral group formed specially for the concert, and all the usual entertainers.
An adult baking afternoon for people at every skill level will be held in Kalbarri Cookery School on Saturday 20 January. And after school baking classes for children will begin there on Monday 29 January, suitable for children aged 6-13 years. Bookings can be made with Siobhan at 087 2932501.
A 5K Road Race in Kilcullen on Sunday 21 January will raise funds for the Teach na nDaoine project. The event starts off from Kilcullen Community Centre at 11am, with registration opening at 9.30am. The race will be accurately timed by JustRuns Events.
Those few activities should be enough to get everyone up and going for 2018.
