Community mental health course

It is often a hidden killer, and for too many a silent agony, writes Brian Byrne. Mental health difficulty is one of the epidemics of our time, and still too often difficult to accept that we might need help for it.

But prevention is better than cure, and that's more than just a palliative form of words. We can nourish and sustain our own mental health, and that of our friends and acquaintences in our community. Which is the core of a programme open to all at Grangebeg Camphill through the next couple of months.

Community Health & Wellbeing is being conducted over a series of five Monday evenings, between 7.30pm-9.30pm and beginning Monday 12 February.

The programme is free to attend and all are welcome. Subjects covered will include Understanding & Promoting Positive Mental Health; Self Esteem; Building Resilience; Managing Stress & Anxiety; and Suicide Awareness & Prevention.

The course is being conducted by Grow, the Community Mental Health Movement in Ireland.

The programme is supported by the HSE and further information is available by phoning 086 8033126 or emailing midlandregion@grow.ie.
