The passing of Vincent Darby
The Diary has learned of the death of Vincent Darby, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and late of Kilcullen.
Vincent died as the result of a car crash on Wednesday of last week. He was General Manager of Regal Auctions Ltd in Calgary.
While living in Kilcullen in 1978, Vincent worked as an auctioneer and was one of the successful contestants in the series of 'Lord Mayor' competitions run by the Kilcullen Community Council to raise funds for the development of the Valley Park. He raised £16,000 during his campaign, and took over the 'mayorship' from the first to hold the 'office', Michael Lambe.
Deceased the age of 64 years. Vincent will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Brendan and Declan, sister Fiona, sisters-in-law Marian, Paula and Maryann, brother-in-law Paddy, nieces Emma and Saoirse, nephews Mark, Steven and Cathal, neighbours and friends, as well as all at Regal Auctions. He was predeceased by his father Liam, mother Maureen, brother Kevin and niece Niamh.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10am. Condolences may be expressed here.
