The passing of Fr Matt Kelly
He passed away peacefully in Tinny Park Nursing Home in Kilkenny. He is pictured above in 2011 with his sister Brigid (who has also died since that occasion), and his brother Pat, celebrating in Fallons of Kilcullen his 60th year as a priest.
The symmetry of that occasion was that the celebration was held in the dining room of Fallons, which was once the tailor's shop operated by his father Jim and above which Fr Matt was born 91 years ago. The full story of his life can be read here.
Fr Matt will be sadly missed by Pat, by his nephews, nieces, his Dominican Community at Black Abbey, and his extended family and friends. He will be reposing at The Priory from 11am to 5p.m. on Thursday followed by Removal to the Black Abbey for reception prayers at 5.30pm. Requiem Masswill be celebrated on Friday at 11am, followed by burial in Foulkstown Cemetery.
