The Inspector is calling on Kilcullen Drama Group

An Inspector Calls, OVO, St Albans, Sept 2012
Kilcullen Drama Group has commenced rehearsals for its autumn production, An Inspector Calls, which will be presented in November, writes Brian Byrne.

Though casting is not yet complete, Roy Thompson will play the part of the Inspector, and other Group stalwarts Maurice O'Mahoney and Philomena Breslin will feature.

The production is being directed by Bernard Berney, while the set will be designed by Letitia Hanratty.

An Inspector Calls was written by English dramatist J B Priestley, first performed in 1945 in the Soviet Union and in 1946 in the UK. It is one of Priestley's best known works for the stage, and is considered to be one of the classics of mid-20th century English theatre.

The play is a three-act drama, which takes place on a single night in April 1912, focusing on the prosperous upper middle-class Birling family, who live in a comfortable home in the fictional town of Brumley.

No doubt, the inimitable Kilcullen Drama Group will have their very unique take on it.
