Hazel and friends set up writing retreat project

Our local best-selling author Hazel Gaynor has gotten involved with two fellow writers to provide an opportunity for other evolving authors to get tips, inspiration, and retreat from distraction for a weekend to write, writes Brian Byrne.

With Sunday Times/Irish Times bestseller Carmel Harrington and USA Today/Irish Times bestseller Catherine Ryan Howard, she is part of The Inspiration Project, which will be a series of weekends away for people with the common interest of writing.

"So often when we were trying to get published we repeatedly heard how difficult it is, not to mention how tough it is to make a living from writing," the trio say on the Project's website. "While it certainly isn’t easy, we are proof that it can happen as we have all made the leap from slush piles and rejection to publishing deals and bestseller lists."

The first event in the Project will he hekd on Friday-Sunday 12-14 January 2018, at Seafield Hotel and Spa Resort in Ballymoney, Gorey, Co Wexford.

There's an Early Bird rate of €349 for those booking before 21 November, and the weekend includes two nights B&B, one evening meal, and a full day of 'Inspiration Shot' coaching sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and plenty of time to write.

The three women have 14 bestselling historical, crime and commercial fiction novels between them. Aspiring, struggling, and emerging writers couldn't have any better cheerleaders.
