Aoibheann's big heart for Manchester bomb victims
In a very personal and special effort, Aoibheann O'Brien, a 4th Class pupil at St Joseph's NS in Halverstown, raised €136 for the victims of the bombing at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, writes Brian Byrne.
Feeling an empathy with the victims because so many of them were primary school age, Aoibheann spent the summer making bracelets and key-rings and selling them door to door and to family and friends to raise the money.
But she's not stopping now. She will be continuing to use her craft talent to fundraise for good cause, and has chosen the charity 'Clown Doctors' in Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children to be the recipients of whatever she earns from continuing to make and sell her bracelets.
They're all very proud of her in Halverstown, and rightly so.
