Family fun planned for market square public consultation day

Architect Laura Bowen speaking about the market square at the recent Enterprising Town presentation.
More details on the upcoming Public Consultation event in the market square have been revealed by the organisers, writes Brian Byrne.

The event on Saturday 30 September will run from 11am until 4pm, with family fun entertainment throughout. This will include a Bounce and Slide castle, a Treasure Hunt with questions about Kilcullen, a pop-up Coffee Cart and a pop-up Bakery.

KFM Radio's Roadcaster will broadcast from the square from 11am until 2pm, and there will be a DJ providing music for the rest of the afternoon.

The currently vacant Il Ficio restaurant unit will be the focus of current use plans and the gathering of suggestions for the proposed market square redesign as a pedestrian and community facility. Everyone will be able to offer their own ideas.

A number of other initiatives are being planned, and the Diary will give a heads-up when these are confirmed.

The organising sub-committee of KCA have devised a motto for the day: Your Town, Your Future, Your Say. Signs will be posted around Kilcullen this coming weekend to raise awareness of the event, which is being supported by Kildare County Council and local representatives.
