Council wants to buy houses, sites
Kildare County Council is seeking properties that are long-term vacant or derelict with a view to buying them and refurbishing them to make them available for social housing, writes Brian Byrne.
The initiative under the Buy and Renew Scheme is aimed at urban properties, and in addition to helping to deal with the housing crisis, it will tackle dereliction and improve streetscapes.
The Council also wants to buy existing residential properties and sites in the county for social housing, to help achieve targets in the Rebuilding Ireland — Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness.
Please contact housing acquisitions on 045 980438 or at housingacquisitions@kildarecoco.ie if you know of a vacant property or have an interest in selling to Kildare County Council.
