A busy day for the market square consultation initiative

There was a very good response to the activity on market square today, according to the organisers, writes Brian Byrne.

"We have a lot of questionnaires filled out, now the hard part is to come, to get them sorted and analysed," says Antoinette Buckley, chair of the KCA sub-committee looking at the future development of the square. In the clip below she talks about what the exercise is about, along with fellow KCA members Eoin Houlihan and Ray Kelly.

There was a very convivial atmosphere through the morning and afternoon, as well as a keen interest in both looking around the square and considering what might be done with it.

Questionnaires filled in, the poster displays in the Il Ficio unit were studied, and there's now a solid bank of advice, information and, apparently, some very constructive ideas.

Our clip above has comment from longtime resident Charlie Talbot, local TD Martin Heydon (FG), and Laura Bowen, the architect who is very directly involved with the Kilcullen Community Action-led project.

The one below features some residents, as well as local TD Fiona McLoughlin (FF) and Joe Boland, Director of Services with Kildare County Council.

And finally, the views of a resident, and of Paddy Nugent who operates the CarryOut store on the square.
