KCELL Badminton Academy is back

Over the past two years KCELL Badminton Academy has been central in the nurturing of emerging badminton talent across the greater Kildare area as part of Badminton Ireland’s academy cell structure at Kilcullen Sports Centre.

The academy is now heading into its third year and is committed to offering top quality coaching to players from beginner right up to elite juniors with all sessions designed to fit in around club, county and international commitments.

Affordability is also a key driving force behind the academy. Two-hourly sessions cost just €15 per child with opportunities for every child to get a taste and fit into a high level training centre and avail of coaching from recognised qualified coaches.

KCELL has thrived under head coach and Irish international Jennie Magee (pictured) and this season we are delighted to add current national U17 coach Aisling Ryan alongside Moya Ryan (pictured) who has graduated into senior ranks after a spell as Irish number one during her junior years. Joshua Magee, European Games bronze medallists, will also be on hand to throw his eye over proceedings when his international schedule allows.

Speaking of the coaching additions, Kilcullen native and cell director Mark Phelan was delighted with the addition of the Ryan sisters. “Both the Ryan sister will bring a fresh impetus to KCELL and the girls will slot in alongside our existing coaches as we look to broaden our horizons and inject some new ideas. I have worked with Aishling this past year at national U17 level and she is one of the most professional people I know. Moya comes into the setup with younger eyes fresh from her national and international U19 duties. A good iPod playlist coupled with her talent is sure to be a hit with all the kids.”

After a short summer break KCELL is now enrolling for the 2017/18 season. If you or your child is interested in joining KCELL just email Mark at markphelan.gpm@gmail.com for details. Places as always are limited and filled on a first come first served basis.

Feel free to follow KCELL on Facebook for all news and should you wish to join KCELL you can download the 2017/18 application form via the academy website at www.kcellbadminton.com.
