Armelle's Kitchen completes move
Well, it was something of a marathon exercise, but Armelle's Kitchen has completed the move across the road to the new shop, writes Brian Byrne.
It's almost seven years since Armelle Siomboing opened the original shop beside Ger's Fruit & Veg, and since then her pink colour scheme has become a focus point for those with a sweet tooth.
Expanding the business with Kenny Rorie's help — and in the middle of it all they got married — their wide range of cakes and pastries are also popular at many day markets in the Dublin area. Jane Bonner, pictured above with Armelle this morning, joined the team two years ago.
The new shop, located where was previously the Cottonwood Tree, gives them more space for production, and improved customer space.
"There's still a lot to do," Armelle told the Diary this morning. "We will be decorating the shop with pictures of our cakes, and one wall will show in photographs the story of the business since we started. This morning's opening is just a quiet one, we'll have an official one later when we're fully organised."
Armelle's first appearance on the Diary is here.
