Kilcullen shops can 'paint red' for Punchestown

Kilcullen shops are in with a chance of winning up to €1,500 in the 'Paint the Town Red' promotion in association with the Punchestown Festival 2017, writes Brian Byrne.

In an extension of the Bank of Ireland sponsored promotion, there are now five prizes in the competition, which was formerly confined to Naas. This year, Johnstown/Kill, Blessington, and Kilcullen/Ballymore will be involved.

A total of €5,000 worth of prizes will be allocated, with an overall winner receiving €1,500 and the use of a private suite at Punchestown on a non-Festival race day. Each of the finalists from the various town/village groups will receive €800.

The process involves each participating business registering with with the organisers for the shop front campaign. Some themed promotional material will be available to participants. Registration must be made by Wednesday 5 April.

By Tuesday 18 April, participating businesses need to email pictures of their themed windows to the organisers, and the five finalists will be notified on Friday 21 April.

On Tuesday 25 April, the opening day of the Festival, the finalists and the overall winner will be presented with their prizes in the Punchestown Parade Ring.
