Fun Run beats the rain
The organisers of the 2017 Kilcullen Fun Run today were very blessed, writes Brian Byrne, with the whole event just managing to start and finish between what were some very heavy showers in the area.
There were 119 registered entries in the 5K, and the first five in were Paul Archbold of Newbridge Running Club in a time of 17:17, from Brendan Keane of Donadea Running Club (18:56), Guy O’Callaghan (20:01), Darryl Maguire (20:31) and Paul McGivern of Newbridge RC (20:32).
There were 51 registered entries in the 3K, and the first five in were Mila Drion (20:50) Siofra Drion (20:59), Aoileann Drion (21:00) Caolan Byrne (21:50) and Molly Ross (22:04).
The event in aid of St Joseph’s NS Halverstown and St Anne’s School on the Curragh, can be considered another successful day out not just for the serious runners, but for all those who did it just for the fun of it and the socialibility of the occasion.
All the Diary’s photographs from the day can be seen here. Meanwhile, here's a small selection below.
