Downtown Kilcullen parking to be raised at Council

Parking of cars across from the Town Hall is to be raised at the next meeting of the Naas Municipal District, writes Brian Byrne.

The meeting on Tuesday next 21 March will consider a motion from Cllr Sorcha O'Neill that the matter of perpendicular parking be addressed.

Such parking often means that the rear of cars extend out into the road at a very narrow point, causing congestion.

Parallel parking at that point would mean fewer parking spaces, but less danger of traffic constriction and damage to vehicles.

In other motions relating to Kilcullen, Cllr Rob Power wants the Roads Department to clarify whether further works are to be undertaken at the Cnoc na Greine Road near Scoil Bhride? "There is confusion from local residents as to whether a pedestrian crossing was intended to be placed along the road," he says.

Cllr Billy Hillis is asking that the Council replace the lights outside the church in Carnalway, which were damaged in a recent storm and if possible this be done with metal standards.
