Power restored to most in Kilcullen after major outage
Power has been restored to most customers in Kilcullen following a major disruption to supply at lunchtime today, writes Brian Byrne.
Traffic lights went out of action and many businesses and homes went dark in Kilcullen because of the fault, which affected the whole town area from Avondale and Cnoc na Greine to Hermitage Park on the north end.
The outage began at around 12.30pm and the fault was in Sunnyhill, where the main transformers for the area are located.
Initially more than 1,500 customers were affected, but now that was later brought down to 146 premises.
Currently, the estimated time for completion of repairs is 5pm this evening.
