Theft, Burglary, biggest Kilcullen crime issues

More than a third of crime offences recorded at Kilcullen Garda Station in the first nine months of 2016 were under the category of ‘Theft and related offences’, writes Brian Byrne.

Of the 97 offences recorded at the station, there have been 33 under this category, while the next largest number, 24, comes under the ‘Burglary and related offences’ heading.

Under the total of a dozen headings, there were 11 ‘Dangerous or negligent acts’, seven instances of ‘Damage to property and to the environment’, seven ‘Attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harassments and related’, six ‘Public order and other social code offences’, four ‘Controlled drug’, three instances of ‘Fraud and related’, and two cases under ‘Robbery, extortion and hijacking’.

No instances were recorded under ‘Kidnapping’, ‘Weapons and Explosives’, or ‘Offences against Government, justice procedures and organisation of crime’.

The figures are compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
