Work on Christmas Lights progressing

Installation work for Kilcullen’s Christmas Lights programme are going well, writes Brian Byrne, according to Kilcullen Community Action, which organises the scheme each year.

Businesses have been asked for their contribution to the second phase of the new lights programme initiated last year, and which resulted in a much better range of lights in 2015. More new lights have been delivered, and the organisers plan to extend the scheme to Hillcrest.

Yesterday’s street collection towards the costs was well supported by individuals at the collection points. "There are some very generous people around," one collector commented.

An official switch-on is planned for Friday week, 2 December, at the Christmas tree which is being erected in Market Square. Further details on that closer to the event, but it will be at around 6pm.
