Rags keep their home record intact.
The Rags are having great success at their home venue, the complex of late and the hall is quickly becoming a fortress, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.
Friday night KBC hosted four clubs on their home patch and on court 1 was Owen Wallace and his Division 4 DDL Mix team. In a great game of Badminton KBC managed to beat Kilmessan 3-1 in a tough league. This is a great result for Owen and his team Mick Cass, Barbara Coffee and Karen O’Neill. Owen's next venture sees his team take on PSLC but at least they have a solid base to build on. Good luck to Owen and his team in their next league match.
Court 2 saw Ray Dalton and his Division 5A DDL Mix play a very good PBAI of Dublin. PBAI have proven the team to beat across all the Dublin Divisions but this did not frighten or deter Ray and the gang. Ray’s team righted the wrongs from their cup match and comprehensively beat their opponents 3-1 in a fantastic display of badminton. Great job and start to the League for Ray, Sarah Walshe, Bernie Smith and Vincent Coller. Good luck to Ray who faces Rathmore on 7 December in the next league outing.
Kasi Va and his Grade 5 Mens played their last SWL group match against Athy on Court 3 and the lads really had nothing to lose as all they needed was one game in the match to progress to the semi finals. The KBC men didn’t disappoint and drew the match 3-3 remaining unbeaten in the league. Kasi, Ben Phelan, Ross Cole and Oisin Egan will now face Ballinabranna of Carlow next week in the cup.
Finally Enda O’Neill and his Division 6 DDL Mix team opened their league campaign with a great start when they played a tricky Wicklow Parish on Court 4. This newly formed KBC team have got off to a flying start beating their counterparts 3-1. Well done to Enda, Kath Logan, Jen Monaghan and Barry O’Neill.
KBC also will compete in two SWL Grade 3 Mens Semi finals on Tuesday so good luck to Owen Wallace and his Grade 3 Mens A team who play Kildare and to Vincent Coller and his Grade 3 Mens B team who play Ballinabranna in their semi final on the same night. Also featuring in SWL semi finals are Mari Gallagher and her Grade 5 Ladies, Kasi Va and his Grade 4 Men, good luck to all.
