Lovely day for Halverstown NS walk

The annual Halverstown NS Walk from Old Kilcullen took place this morning in beautiful crisp bright winter sunshine, writes Brian Byrne.

The younger classes took part in the walk while the seniot classes organised a breakfast for them, their parents and the teachers of the school.

The walk was again a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society.

A talk by Gerry O’Donoghue at the round tower in Old Kilcullen was both fun and informative, and he left the young people with a couple of ‘homework’ questions that even this writer is puzzled enough to do some research on.

Led by the new Principal of Halverstown NS, Barry Whelan, and several of his colleagues, the group then walked down the hill and on to the school, with Gda Jim Lacey driving ahead to make sure they were safe in traffic.
