Coughlanstown Road meeting in Ballymore
There will be a meeting on Saturday next in Ballymore Eustace regarding the closure of the L6048 (Coughlanstown) road, writes Rose Barrett O'Donoghue of the Ballymore Bugle.
Residents, local councillors and TDs Martin Hedyon, Sean Ó Fearghaill and Fiona O'Loughlin have been invited to attend the meeting to be held at 3pm at Fogarty's Garden Pavilion in the Square. All are welcome to attend.
Since the road collapsed, residents must now re-route to Ballymore Eustace via the Mullaboden road to Donode, which is a narrow and poorly surfaced road. In some cases, it puts up to 5km for residents who live less than 1km from the village.
Locals also feel strongly that KCC planners underestimated the effect on the road of gas, electrical, water and more recently sewerage treatment works in the area.
Serious remedial works will be required and more importantly, funding must be secured to see the road restored and re-opened.
