Audience engaged with 'Mná 1916' talk
A very engaged audience turned out this morning for a talk on Mná 1916 - The women of 1916 by Sinead McCoole, curator of the exhibition of the same name which is currently touring the country, writes Brian Byrne.
The talk in Kilcullen Town Hall was hosted by the County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups, which held its AGM there in advance of it.
Sinead McCoole is author of ‘No Ordinary Women — Irish Female Activists in the Revolutionary Years 1900-1923’.
Among the visitors present was the Chair of the Federation, Paddy Behan; Mario Corrigan and James Durney of the County Kildare Library Service; and Cllr Sorcha O’Neill. Nessa Dunlea of Kilcullen Heritage Group was the local host.
A number of Kilcullen people came along for the talk, which was followed by lunch and further discussion in Fallons.
