A lot happening in Kilcullen today
Most people won't cross the bridge in Kilcullen without looking down to see what's happening in the river, writes Brian Byrne.
And if you've always wondered what's going on under the water, today's the day you can find out.
Dr Jan Barrs is conducting a free event through the afternoon from 3.30pm, talking about the fish and other denizens of the river and showing examples for those who'd like to get up close and personal.
The location is the river bank just downstream of the bridge on the Camphill side (near the cupola and seats on the Farm and Nature Walk).
Later in the evening there's a 'Tales of the Unexpected' storytelling session in the Ardaban Hall in Camphill, for children from 12 upwards and for adults.
It's by internationally renowned story-teller Sue Hollingsworth, along with contributions by our local Tim Ditchburn. This begins at 7.30pm and there's a ticket price of €10 that truly represents exceptional value.
Meantime, don't forget to help out the Kilcullen Summer Flowers today during the Street Collection for the Tidy Towns project which makes Kilcullen in summer look so colourful. All support welcome.
