Public meeting on road, place names
A public meeting will be held on 20 September to consider the issue of road and place names and signage in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
At the meeting in the Town Hall, a list of currently-used names will be discussed. The list will be compiled from local knowledge and also from official sources and from Google and sat-nav systems.
It was noted at the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action that some roads are known by a number of different names by different people and official correspondence.
Noel Clare said that discussions at the meeting would form the basis for a plan on providing coherent signage, which might take some years before implementation is complete.
It was agreed that the plan should also include information signs on buildings with a historical and heritage significnce.
Ray Kelly commented that KCA was facilitating the meeting, and if a specific group coming out of it wanted to the issue further, that would be fine.
