Kilcullen in National Heritage Week
There are two Kilcullen attractions listed for National Heritage Week, which runs from 20-28 August, writes Brian Byrne.
The Nature Trail and the Weavery at An Tearmann feature as a recurring event, with ‘a river of wildflowers’ to be seen between 9am-5pm through the week. The Weavery will be open to the public from 2.30-5pm on Monday to Thursday of the week only.
An illustrated talk by Mario Corrigan on ‘Ernest Shackleton - Kildare Born Hero’ will take place in the Community Library on Wednesday 24 August, from 7.30pm. The event marks the 100th anniversary of the rescue of the crew of the Endurance, crushed by ice on an ill-fated expedition to the South Pole.
Both events are free. A guide to all events in Kildare can be downloaded here.
