Kilcullen link cyclist among tops in Ulster
Angus Fyffe, son of Kilcullen-born Marella Fyffe (Byrne), notched up another stunning cycling performance at the weekend, writes Brian Byrne.
Although still cycling as a Junior with the Omagh Wheelers, he won the first stage of the Senior Tour of Ulster on Saturday and came second on the final day.
A recent recruit to the An Post-ChainReaction professional cycling team, Angus, from Omagh in Co Tyrone, is grandson of the late Tommy and Carmel Byrne of Kilcullen. He is currently studying for an engineering degree at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown.
The 21-year-old will join the Sean Kelly-owned team for the coming European road season when he finishes this year's exams shortly.
