KBC’s season round up
KBC have had their most successful season so far, competing in 13 Finals and 14 Semi Finals in both Dublin District and South West League and Cup Finals. Out of the 13 Finals KBC teams have won ten finals, four in the DDL, five in the SWL and 1 Inter League Title.
The highest accolade the club achieved this year was our Men’s Division 2 League Champions captained by Murt who took their League Final without dropping a set. KBC’s Division 6 Ladies captained by Sarah also had an amazing season winning both the Grade 4 South West League Final, the South West Cup and both the Dublin District League and Cup Final’s. The girls were unbeaten in all competitions without dropping a game, again a club first and a very rare achievement in the leagues.
The club this season are Men’s Division 2, Ladies Division 6 DDL Champions. Ladies Division 6, Mix Division 6 is DDL Cup Champions. KBC were equally successful in the South West League winning the Grade 4 Ladies, Grade 5 Ladies and Grade 4 Mix Leagues. KBC’s Grade 2 Ladies captained by Lynsey also achieved the clubs highest accolade, this time in the South West League. It’s also been a great year for this Ladies team who were also part of the Grade 2 Mix team who won the SWL Grade 2 Cup.
Well done to all our teams this year, making it too and winning finals isn’t everything. We have had some great players who went out week in and week out representing KBC, promoting our friendly attitude to other people and other clubs. Hats off to you all.
In all competitions KBC have played in 264 matches so it would be unfair if I didn’t give a special mention to our very approachable Match Secretary Caroline Sheedy. Caroline has done Trojan work this year listening to, sorting out and changing matches while still maintaining courts for our club nights. Caroline, well done, you’ve been amazing this year in what’s been definitely our busiest year so far. You may stay on your shoes will be hard filled!! Also thanks for giving me the club stats for this year, mine could have been slightly off!!
And finally a few more people to mention, Brian Byrne, the Kilcullen Dairy Editor; Killian and all The Bridge staff; PJ and the staff of the Complex; and Joe O’Connor for all his engraving of trophies this year. Thank you for all your support for the club, we have a great community and the club is really proud to be a small part of it.
