Strong registrations for upcoming Expos
More than 75 business and social groups have registered for the Kilcullen Enterprise Town weekend which is being held on Friday and Saturday next, 22/23 April, in Scoil Bhride. A number of high-profile business and sporting guests will also be contributing.
Sponsored by Bank of Ireland, the initiative includes a Business Expo on the Friday from 5-8pm and a Sports and Community Expo on the Saturday from 11am-2pm. Both events will be in the Assembly Hall of Scoil Bhride Kilcullen, part of a recent major extension to the school.
At each Expo there will be a related panel discussion involving local people and guest contributors. Tracy Piggott will interview Amanda Bohan of the highly successful Home Instead Senior Care franchise, Niall Murphy from Kilcullen based global surveying company Murphy Surveys and John Craddock of John Craddock Ltd Civil Engineers. Keynote speakers for the Business event include Kilcullen native Paul Nolan who is Group Development Manager at Dawn Meats. Rachel Allen will be among those at the Sports & Community Expo on the Saturday. Both events are free and open to the public.
Several local music, dance and singing groups will provide entertainment, and there will be displays from local sports clubs taking part.
Kilcullen Bank of Ireland Manager Jo McMahon says she is delighted to see the great level of support for the initiative, which gives participating businesses and community groups an opportunity to promote what they have to offer. "It takes a community to build a community, and with the platform which Enterprise Town provides — matched with the commitment already shown from the people of the town — it promises to deliver a major boost to the local economy and community life. The event is a fantastic opportunity for Kilcullen and the surrounding areas."
An Information Evening three weeks ago in the Town Hall attracted a large number of business and community interests.
There was also a pilot Photography Class for over-50s last week which has resulted in a move to set up a Camera Club in the town. Kilcullen was the first to have this class, provided by a professional photographer and sponsored by the Enterprise Town initiative.
Businesses, clubs and societies who have not yet registered, but who are interested in taking part in the events can register by emailing Jo McMahon on jo.mcmahon@boi.com, or by calling in to the Bank of Ireland Kilcullen and speaking to a member of staff.
