Country music and 60s drama at the Moat Theatre
Two shows coming up at the Moat Theatre in Naas are well worth considering for some out of town entertainment for Kilcullenites, writes Celine Garvey.
'A Night with the Country Stars' on Tuesday 26 April will feature the hit songs from country legends John Hogan, Frank McCaffrey, TR Dallas, Gloria and Trudi Lalor which have gained them countless awards and legions of fans all across Ireland and beyond. Joining them will be a fantastic live 5-piece band with that authentic country sound. This is a show sure to be a sell out at the Moat Theatre, so book your tickets early as all country roads are heading to Naas on 26 April. Tickets €22.50.
And on Friday 29 April there's a production of County Kildare writer John McKenna's 'Corner Boys', set in a village in Ireland against the background of President John F Kennedy's visit to Ireland in 1963. The powerful play exposes the light and dark sides of Irish life in the time — the carnivals, the sodalities, the shenanigans and the humour, the desperation and the loneliness — through the lives of two girls working in a drapery shop and the 'corner boys' with empty lives spent on the village square. It met with rave reviews, full houses and standing ovations when first staged ten years ago, and is directed by Marian Brophy who directed the original production. Tickets €18, Concessions €15.
Both events start at 8pm. Bookings on 045 883030.
