Adult drama students to perform in The Studio

A one-act comedy, 'Ssh', will be performed on Friday 22 April by five students who have been taking Evelyn O'Sullivan's Adult Drama classes since January, writes Brian Byrne.

The play will be in The Studio at Hillcrest, home of Evelyn's Drama Dynamics School of Speech & Drama, and will be staged 'in the round' at the venue.

The story of the production centres around Breda, at home on the evening of her birthday, an unhappy event because her marriage is in ruins and her only son is living abroad. Friends call, and the ensuing conversation takes unexpected twists and tangles of miscommunication.

Admission is free, with the performance beginning at 8pm. Evelyn has issued a general invitation to everybody in the community to come along and support the students — Val Howell, Esther Kiely, Mary Murphy, Owen O'Sullivan and Perrine Nunes.

"The group have worked really hard and have made huge progress since we began rehearsals in January," Evelyn says. "I'd love for them to have an audience to complete the experience."
