Revival call for Tennis Club
A move to revive tennis officially in Kilcullen has been mooted by local man Eamon O'Toole, writes Brian Byrne.
The facilities at Logstown include a pavilion building and two hard courts, and though some locals play there in summer, the club itself has effectively been dormant for two decades.
Eamon wants to get a sense of any public interest in the idea, with a view to upgrading the courts and perhaps incorporating a bowling green to offer a more mixed usage facility.
He has set up an email to which people can send expressions of interest — kilcullentennisclub2016@gmail.com, or he can be contacted by phone at 086 8115605.
The idea is that a core group of people might get together to investigate the possibilities for the project.
The pavilion/clubhouse and the courts have been there since the 1960s, and the building is currently used on a part-time basis by the Kilcullen Youth Club.
Cllr Fiona O'Loughlin has taken an interest in the idea, and has promised to help the project seek and source funding from the Sport Capitation Grant Scheme.
