KBC unlucky in another South West League Final
The Grade 3 team were missing two of their starting line up with Owen Wallace and Vincent Coller missing for the big occasion, so in stepped the very capable Ray Dalton and John “The Fox” Mullen. The team didn't get off to a good start losing the first three games, but managed to pull the fourth game making it 3-1 going into the mixed games. KBC did manage to take one more game but lost to a very experienced Johnswell 4 (and a set) - 2. A big congrats goes to captain Mick and his team, Martin, Chelsey, Caroline, Bernie, Catherine and subs Ray and John on a great performance.
Overall in the South West League this year, KBC have been very competitive playing in five Finals and winning three, roll on the South West Cup. You never know we might make a few more finals!
In other news on a relatively quiet week for KBC there were some good results for some of the other teams. Lynsey and the Division 2 DDL, Mix 1 team hosted Boyne of Meath in this tough clash of two very competitive teams. Honours even it ended in this one with both teams sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Well done Lynsey, Lorraine, Gareth and Eoin.
Standing in captain Kath and her Division 7 DDL team had two matches the first at home to Baily. Kath’s and the gang managed to keep their home winning streak going and walked away with a brilliant 3-1 victory. In their second match of the week Mix 7 had to travel all the way to Boyne and in a nail biting match with three of the games going to three-setters which could have gone either way, but the Mix 7 were beaten 4-0 in the end. Well done to Kat, Kasi, Fintan and the three subs that played over the two matches, Mari, Emer and Oisin.
Well done to all and good luck in the coming week.
