Maintain Hope's Alexia goes to High School

Today was a big day for all of us but especially for Alexia, writes Gerry O'Donoghue of Maintain Hope.

This brave girl has overcome unimaginable hurt and trauma to become the top student in her primary school. So it was with a mixture of loneliness, pride, excitement and hope that we took her on two-hour journey to spend her first day in Karuma Girls High School.

She travelled with her bucket, basin, cooking and eating utensils, books and blankets and proudly received her uniform on arrival. Thanks to all our supporters who make days like this possible for Alexia and children like her.

There's always hope!
