Nolans win detailed
As we reported last week, Nolans Butchers were the winners of four categories in the annual Fins Goustiers awards, held in Paris, writes Brian Byrne.
Now back from accepting the awards, James Nolan says they were the only business to win the four categories open to registered craft butchers from all over Europe.
The company's Low Salt Home Baked Ham won the award for the best Festive Product in Ireland which was a huge achievement and his Spiced Beef was a close runner up in the Festive Product category.
Nolan’s Famous Traditional Pork Sausages won the highly acclaimed Prix d’Excellence for the third year in a row and the other two awards were for their Home Made White Pudding and a new product, Nolan’s Reduced Fat Turkey Sausages.
James was quick to give the credit to Fred Mitchell who makes the sausages and pudding fresh every day, Dermott Mitchell who makes the hams and Emily Behan who bakes all the hams, and to Marc Behan for coming up with the great idea of a reduced fat turkey sausage.
The awards in France finish off what has been an amazing year for Nolans of Kilcullen as they had already won the very prestigious award of Champion of Champion’s Butchers Shop in the UK & Ireland presented at the House of Lords in London in February of this year
James Nolan stressed that none of this would have been possible without the phenomenal support from all the customers that visit Nolans of Kilcullen and for all the incredibly hard work put in by the Team of staff in Kilcullen that make Nolans of Kilcullen the unique Butchers shop that it is.
