Thanks for Christmas Lights generosity
Although it was the wettest Saturday in a long while, the Annual KCA Christmas Lights collection collected over €1,000 toward the now re-ignited Christmas lighting project, writes Ray Kelly.
Many thanks to all who supported the collection, helped out with the collection on the day and those who stopped for a chat. Thanks also to the Kilcullen Scouts who helped out on the day also.
The collection was one of a number of fundraising initiatives undertaken on by the KCA supported Kilcullen Christmas Lights Fund, the aim of which this year is to re-energise the Christmas lighting in the town (pardon the pun), to have a high profile switch-on, and to generally give the town a lift over Christmas.
Many thanks to all the businesses who have supported our funding so far. Thanks also to Kildare County Council and in particular Cllr Darren Scully, who was instrumental in securing €5,000 from the Council.
We are hoping this week to finalise the contract for supply of new lighting and have identified a number of focus areas where we will install extra new lighting arrangement with a view to expanding to other areas next year. The majority of the streetscape will have new lighting along with existing usable lights.
The bridge is one area where we feel will make a large impact — there's a mock-up photo above but wait for the real thing.
Lots of work still to be done but here's hoping to have all ready for the switch-on date, Friday 4 December.
