Kilcullen Badminton update

Another busy week concludes for the teams in Kilcullen Badminton Club with the Mens, Ladies and Mixed in the South West League nearing its conclusion and the Dublin District League only in its infancy.

Playing their last group matches were our Grade 4 Ladies, Sarah captaining the Ladies 4 a team were away Ballinakillin and wanted to keep their 100% record in tact and managed to do so beating the Ballinakillan side 3-1. Sarah now face the runners up in Grade 4 b section which will either be Kildare CWMS or Kinnity. Well done to Sarah, Caroline, Bernie and Catherine.

Siobhan's Grade 4 Ladies B also wanted to finish their group stage with a win and they did it style with a 4-0 victory. This win means that the two Kilcullen sides will avoid meeting each other in the semi finals. Siobhan now has to wait to see who will finish second in the other end of the draw when Carlow and Ballinakillan play their decider during the week, good luch to Siobhan, Tara, Kat and Chelsey and to Sarahs team in the semi finals.

Sudeer and the Division 8 Men’s 5 started their Dublin District League in a home fixture to Vikings on Tuesday night and got the league off to a good start with a goood draw. Good luck to Sudeer, Kasi, Eoin and Alan in their next league match away to Skerries on Monday night next.
Staying with the Dublin League and Cups, Murt's Division 2 Mens 1 hosted Mount Pleasant of Dublin on at the complex on Thursday night 5 November. In a magnificent match the lads came out on top winning 3-1, it's brilliant to see the standard of badminton being played at such a high level, how these guys return some of the smashes is a joy to watch. Well done Murt, Eoin, Declan and sub Gareth.

Vincent's Mens 2 Division 4 travelled to Dublin to play in the first round of their cup and were unlucky loosing to KADKA in sets. On the bright side Vincent, Martin, Owen and sub Sean can concentrate in the League.

Ray's Mix 5 Division 6 team were also away to Fairplay and had a great start to the League winning 4-0. This puts Rays team in a strong position in the early stages of the League, well done Ray, Sarah, Siobhan and Alan.

Not to be outdone the Grade 2 ladies were also in action, this time to Carlow YM in the South West league again at home in the complex. Sinead and her team were also superb and beat Carlow 4-0 in a entertaining game. Well done to Sinead, Gillian, Lynsey and Annette.

Finally good luck to all the teams in their next matches.
