Badminton update
Four matches to report on this week and we start with Vincent's Division 4 Mixed team who played ESB at home in the first round of the DDL Cup. KBC lost both their singles games in two sets and had an uphill battle from there in. Vincent and Martin did however give the team a little hope when they won their mens doubles but Chelsey and Bernie were unlucky in the ladies being beaten in a three setter putting ESB through to the next round. Hard luck to Vincent, Chelsey, Bernie and Martin.
Also playing in their DDL Cup first round were Catherine's Division 7 Mix 6 team away to Brays Nomads. In this one sided affair Catherine’s team wrapped it up in the first mix beating Nomads 4-0 with a game to spare. Congrats to Catherine, Kat, Fintan and Kasi.
Friday 6 November saw two South West League home matches played in the complex, first out was Kat's Grade 5 Ladies who were seeking revenge on a Bough side that beat them in Baltinglass 3-1 the week before. Kat and the girls got the result beating Bough 4-0 and in doing so put themselves into a SWL semi final. Well done to Kat, Mari, Emer and sub Orla.
Enda and his Grade 4 Men had an almost impossible task ahead of them in their final group match against Killoughy in the complex on the same night. To be guaranteed a semi final spot they had to win 4-0 as a 3-1 win or 2-2 draw would take the second spot in the league out of their hands depending on Kildare to do them a favour in the final match against Killoughy. The Grade 4 defending Championss won the match beating the youngesters of Killoughy 4-0 in stylish fashion. Well done to Enda, John, Ray and Oisin in securing another SWL semi final spot for Kilcullen Badminton Club.
