Text Alert: tarmac cold callers, 'burglary pretexts'

A warning through the area's Text Alert system asks that people be aware of persons calling door to door, offering tarmac services.

The Garda warn that this can be a pretext for distraction burglaries. Householders so approached should not engage in conversation, and if they feel concern should immediately phone the Garda.

The Kilcullen Garda District Text Alert Scheme can be joined by filling in a form available at a number of outlets, including Kilcullen Credit Union.

With darker evenings imminent, it's open season on burglaries. Be aware, for yourself and on your neighbours' behalf.
