Canoe Club grant is for equipment, safety gear
The Sports Capital grant money recently awarded to Kilcullen Canoe Club will be used to increase boat storage, and replace equipment, including boats and essential safety gear like lifejackets and anti-splash aprons, writes Brian Byrne.
"We're delighted to have got it," says the Club's Maureen Barker of the €18,600, allocated in the third round of the SC funding since it was restarted by the Government.
Previous capital funding was used by the Club to help build its new gym, which was then equipped through its own resources. Kilcullen Canoe Club is the oldest in Ireland, founded in 1977. The current building was opened in 2008.
