Badminton update

Another five South West Leinster matches to cover over the last few days, the first of which features Kathrine and her Grade 5 Ladies. This match, played on Wednesday 14 October was the girls' first league match this season and they started with a bang beating their hosts Johnswell 3-1. This is another great start to the league for a Kilcullen team, Kat and her team's next opponents are Bough and hopefully they can build on this their first league win.Well done to Kathrine, Mari, Emer and Cathrine.

Enda and the Grade 4 Men visited Kildare CWMS on Thursday 15 October and hoped to improve on their draw the previous Friday. In an epic three-hour match with every game going to three sets with the final set being decided on two points the KBC lads were beaten 4-0. This was a truly entertaining match. All is not lost however for Enda and the team as two wins in their final two matches will secure a semi final spot for the lads and the defending champions wont go out without a fight! Hard luck to Enda, John, Ray and Oisin and good luck in your next match away to Kiloughy.

Dave Jackson's Grade 2 mens played Carlow YM at home also on Thursday night and were looking to keep their 100% record intact. Dave and the men didn’t disappoint and they beat the YM 4-0 which guarantees them a semi final spot with three wins out of three.Well done to Dave and his trusty sidekicks Murt, Gareth and Eoin.

Siobhans Grade 4 Ladies A also played Ballinakillan Ladies on Friday 16 October. Siobhan and the girls wanted to improve on their opening match where they drew with Kinnity and did so beating Ballinakillan 4-0. Great result and well done to Siobhan, Kat, Tara and Chelsey.

Also playing at home on Friday were Sinead's Ladies Grade 2 who hosted Portarlington. Sinead's team have also had a great start to their league and in a close encounter beat Port 3-1. Well done Sinead, Lynsey, Celine and Gillian.

Finally a mention for some club and committee members, firstly a big thank you to Caroline Sheedy our Match Secretary who has been working so hard over the last few wekks contacting and organising DDL and SWL league and cup matches. Caroline has single handedly had to organise over 200 home and away fixtures. A big thanks to Caroline from all the teams and their in their captains on a great job.

Also well done to Tara O’Neill and Chelsey Cox who won the Grade 4 Midlands Ladies championship and as usual best of luck to all the teams in the coming week.
